I still remember the exact moment everything changed. It was a quiet evening when my father suddenly collapsed in front of me. One second he was speaking, the next he was on the floor, barely breathing. At the hospital, the doctors spoke in rushed, serious tones. Urgent surgery. No delay. A sum of money so large it felt unreal. I stood there, numb, as if the world had gone silent around me 😢
I had no one to turn to. No relatives, no savings, no miracle waiting around the corner. I was alone with a choice that didn’t feel like a choice at all.
That’s when Victor came back into our lives.
My father recognized him instantly, though I had only heard fragments about him before—an old school friend, someone distant and strange. But now he stood before me, calm and composed, as if he had been expecting this moment all along.
He listened to everything I said without interrupting. When I finished, he looked at me with steady eyes and said quietly, “I can pay for the surgery.”
For a second, I thought I had been saved.

But then he added, “On one condition. You marry me.”
The words echoed in my mind. I looked at my father, lying weak and helpless. There was no time to think, no room to refuse.
I agreed.
Everything happened quickly after that. No wedding, no celebration—just signatures on cold paper and a silent understanding that I had stepped into something I didn’t fully understand.
His house was large, isolated, almost too quiet. The kind of silence that makes you feel watched even when you’re alone. From the first moment, something inside me felt uneasy.
The first night, I couldn’t sleep. Every creak of the house made my heart race. And then, sometime after midnight, the door slowly opened.
Victor stood there, holding a small pill.
“You must take this every night,” he said in a calm, almost emotionless voice.
I wanted to ask why, but something in his gaze stopped me. I took the pill.
Within minutes, a heavy weakness spread through my body. My thoughts blurred, and I fell into a deep sleep.

The next morning, I woke up with no memory of what had happened.
At first, I tried to ignore it. But it kept happening. Every night, the pill. Every morning, emptiness. And slowly, a quiet fear began to grow inside me 😰
I started noticing small things. My hair sometimes felt brushed, even though I hadn’t touched it. My position in bed was different. Once, I noticed faint marks on my arm, like someone had held me.
Victor, however, remained distant. During the day, he barely spoke. He never behaved in a way I could clearly accuse. But his silence made everything worse.
Finally, I couldn’t live with the uncertainty anymore.
One day, while he was out, I bought a small hidden camera. My hands were shaking as I set it up in the bedroom. I knew I was breaking the agreement, but I needed to know the truth.
That night, everything happened as usual. The pill. The darkness.
The next morning, as soon as he left, I locked myself in the room and played the recording.
At first, it was nothing unusual. I lay there, asleep. The minutes passed quietly. Then the door opened.
Victor entered.

I felt my chest tighten as I watched him walk toward me. He sat beside the bed and gently began to stroke my hair. The movement was soft, almost caring—but the expression on his face made my skin crawl 😨
Then he stood up.
Instead of leaving, he walked to the wall and pressed something. A hidden panel slid open, revealing another room behind it.
I froze.
Inside were screens, cameras, and equipment. A control room.
Victor stepped inside and began adjusting things. On the monitors, I saw different angles of the room… and then, other rooms. Other girls. All lying still, just like me.
A cold wave of realization washed over me.
This wasn’t just about me.
He returned to the bed and placed a small device near my head. The screens lit up with strange patterns, like signals or waves.
And then I saw something that made my breath stop completely 😱
On one of the monitors, I saw myself.
Not sleeping—but moving.
Walking.
Turning.
Looking around.
But my real body was still lying in the bed.
I couldn’t understand it, but deep inside, I felt the truth forming. This wasn’t just about recording. It was something else. Something far worse.
I shut the laptop, unable to watch any longer.
There was no doubt now—I had to leave.

I packed as quickly as I could, grabbing my documents and phone. My hands wouldn’t stop shaking. Every second felt like it could be my last in that house.
I waited until Victor’s car disappeared beyond the gate.
Then I ran.
I didn’t stop. I didn’t look back. Fear pushed me forward with every step 🚪🏃♀️
Eventually, I reached a nearby town. My legs were weak, my breathing uneven. I found a small café and locked myself in the bathroom, trying to calm down.
I looked up at the mirror.
And something felt wrong.
For a moment, I didn’t recognize my own reflection. My expression seemed чужой… colder, distant.
I blinked, telling myself it was just fear.
But the feeling didn’t go away.
I left quickly and bought a bus ticket. As I sat down, I turned on my phone.
A message appeared from an unknown number.
“Where are you going?”
My heart dropped.
Another message followed.
“You shouldn’t have left.”
My hands trembled as I stared at the screen.
Then, one final message:
“Watch the end.”
With shaking fingers, I opened the recording again and skipped to the last moments I hadn’t seen.
Victor stood beside me, smiling.
And then—
My eyes opened.
Not slowly, not like waking up… but instantly.
The version of me on the screen looked directly into the camera 😨
She smiled.

The same cold smile I had just seen in the mirror.
And then she spoke softly:
“Run as far as you can.”
I froze.
“Because when I wake up…” she continued, “I’ll remember everything.”
The video ended.
The bus began to move.
And as I sat there, staring at my reflection in the dark window, one thought kept repeating in my mind—
I had escaped that house.
But I wasn’t sure anymore… if I had escaped myself 😱
